About the Cutting Boards

What wood is used in Grankvist cutting boards?

All Grankvist cutting boards are made from solid Nordic oak, a slow-growing hardwood from the Swedish forests. The slow growth gives the wood an unusually dense grain, making it highly durable and gentle on knife edges compared to softer woods or bamboo.

How long does a Grankvist cutting board last?

These boards are built to last a lifetime with proper care. The dense Nordic oak resists deep knife marks, warping and cracking. Many customers describe them as heirloom pieces they intend to pass on to the next generation.

How do I care for my cutting board?

Never put it in the dishwasher. Wash by hand with mild soap and dry immediately. Apply Grankvist Wood Wax every 3-6 months to keep the wood nourished and protected. The wax is made from Swedish beeswax and food-safe mineral oil.

Why is each board hand-signed with a number?

Every board is made by Erik personally, and each carries a unique hand-stamped serial number. No two boards are identical, small variations in grain, weight and finish make each piece one-of-a-kind.

Is the cutting board food safe?

Yes. The Grankvist Wood Wax applied to each board contains only food-safe ingredients: Swedish beeswax and mineral oil. No synthetic chemicals or varnish.

Where are the cutting boards made?

In Erik Grankvist's hand-built log cabin in the Swedish wilderness, the same cabin seen in his YouTube videos. Every board is made by hand, one at a time.

What is the difference between the Small and Medium cutting board?

The Medium (40x30 cm) is the most versatile. It has a juice groove and works well for meat, fish and larger vegetables. The Small (40x27 cm) is lighter and better suited for everyday use, quick prep and easy handling. Both come with a jar of Grankvist Wood Wax included.

About the Axe

Who makes the Grankvist Axe?

The axe is a collaboration between Erik and three independent artisans in Latvia, each working from their own small home workshop. The axe head is forged by one maker, the handle is carved and sanded by Janis, and the leather sheath is cut, stitched and molded by hand by Dace. Each axe comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by all three makers and Erik.

Can I get a custom engraving on my axe?

The Grankvist Axe is designed to be compact and packable while still having a broad enough head to handle felling, splitting and carving. It excels at all essential outdoor and bushcraft tasks. Grip close to the axe head for control during carving, or slide your hand down into the palm swell for full power when you need it.

Does the axe come with a sheath?

Yes. Every Grankvist Axe comes with a handmade leather sheath, crafted from thick 5mm hides by Dace in her home studio.

Is the axe head stamped with a number?
